Culver City Symphony Orchestra Celebrates the Start of Summer

June 23 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Free

Join us as we explore the different moods of Summer. Mendelssohn’s overture to Shakespeare’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” conjures a moonlit forest near Athens inhabited by fairies. Bizet’s Suite No. 1 from Carmen, one of the most popular operas, takes us to Seville in southern Spain for a dramatic story of love and tragedy. Dvořák composed his Symphony No. 8 in 1889 at his summer resort in Bohemia. The mood of the Symphony has been described as one of “bucolic euphoria.”
