Jazz Jam Night with the Soapbox Rhythm Section

Village Well Books and Coffee presents our first Jazz Jam Night, hosted by the Soapbox Rhythm Section: Robert Jacobson (guitar), Jack Flynn (drums), and Culver City’s own Jeff Schwartz (bass).

The jam session has traditionally been a site of learning and community as well as competition among musicians. Culver City is home to players from beginners to professionals and students to seniors. This will be a place where they can meet and play together.

Audience members will experience the music at its most spontaneous, as groups of musicians who have not played together before and may have never even met come together around their love of the classic jazz repertoire.

Vocalists and instrumentalists of all ages and abilities are welcome to sit in for a song or two. Bring your instrument and fake book (if you need it). To save space and time, please do not bring your own drum set, amplifier, or upright bass; you can use the house band’s.
