Kids Craftoween at Ivy Station
October 7, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
FreeJoin visual artist and crafter Kelle with a festive Halloween art project for kids! This month’s project: Jumping Jack-o’-lanterns.
Create a Jumping Jack-o’-lantern paper doll to celebrate the spooky season! This activity not only allows kids to explore vintage Halloween design elements but also serves as an introduction to basic engineering principles. By creating moving parts and understanding how they work, crafters can enhance their creativity while learning new skills.
In order to maintain safe spaces, participation in kids activities will be limited to children and their accompanying parents, guardians, and caregivers.
This is a free event with free 2-hour parking validation available upon request.
This programming was created in part through the City of Los Angeles Arts Development Fee Program, Department of Cultural Affairs.
About the Instructor:
Kelle Meschede is a Los Angeles based multi-dimensional visual artist with a passion for design and originality. She has worked as a professional dancer with Royal Flux Contemporary Company, Sia, M83, Louis the Child, Disney Fairytale Weddings, and The Ellen Show.
She also has extensive experience with set design, prop making, event decorating, arts and crafts education, and site-specific installations. While working as a DIY Project Designer for Cricut, Kelle independently created unique party decor, home accents, costumes, and kid’s crafts, which were featured on KTLA numerous times. Kelle also had the pleasure of assisting artist Jihan Zencrili of Geronimo Balloons in her site-specific works at Grand Central Market, The Broad Museum, and Color Factory, and was Production Lead at Geronimo’s residency with New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center.
As a lover of all things paper, Kelle has worked for multiple stationery companies over the years like Minted and Paper Source where she taught art classes for all ages. Kelle’s love for creating a space for learners to craft motivates her to volunteer as an art instructor for SoCal based nonprofits such as LA Family Housing, Create Now, and Hope Recharged Foundation.
